ARTIST STATEMENT

Yongchen Ma, an interior designer and furniture designer/maker comes from China and based in Canada. Yongchen had an interior design education background and 3-year work experience in the commercial interior design field in Canada. Now, she is a third-year furniture student currently studying at Sheridan College. Yongchen had also taken art fundamental courses and portfolio-making courses including textile, design, art and painting, fashion, architecture in China. She grew up with Chinese culture and learning new things in the western country. Based on her education and cultural background, she identifies herself as a designer who focuses on functional and culturally influenced design.
